Sometimes, our homes can overwhelm us. While a good Spring Clean (whenever it happens) is always welcome, sometimes you want to go even further than that and streamline your style, too. Home Renovation Without Aggravation

Think 2016 might finally be the year to tackle that big home renovation project you’ve been putting off? Welcome to the club. Fueled largely by the rebounding housing market, home improvement spending is projected to reach $155 billion this year, surpassing the peak set in 2006, according to Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. At the same time, the construction industry is in the throes of a massive labor shortage, having shed more than 2 million jobs since 2007.

San Antonio Economy Strong in 2015 Despite Oil Field Cuts | The Bull Country

ne third of the way into 2015, local economic development experts say the metro job creation picture remains strong, indicating that metro San Antonio has not yet begun to feel the impact of lower global oil prices on its employment picture, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports. "The oilfield firms continue to maintain their employment in this area at this time," said Mario Hernandez, President and CEO of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation. "Of course how long that holds depends on how long the trend continues for decreased drilling. It's all about the price of oil." Figures released by the Texas Workforce Commission show the eight county metro San Antonio unemployment rate in March was 3.7%, which is the lowest since 2007 and one of the lowest of any major city in the country, indicating the diversity of the local work force is strong enough to overcome cuts in the oil and gas sector.

Mortgage rates dip to annual low: Will they stick?

When the Federal Reserve raised its interest rates late last year, most mortgage rate prognosticators saw it as a sure sign that home-loan rates would finally rise meaningfully. In fact, just the opposite has happened. The average rate on the popular 30-year fixed loan is now at its lowest level of the year and could potentially head lower into new record territory.

San Antonio | Real Estate and Market Trends

San Antonio, otherwise known as the Alamo City, continues to demonstrate an increased propensity for everything that has made Texas one of the hottest markets in the United States. On the one hand, sales activity in the San Antonio housing market has outpaced the blistering statewide trend. Homeowners in the region were the beneficiaries of incredibly brisk sales. On the pricing end, however, San Antonio continued to trail behind that of its neighboring cities. Appreciation rates were not as high compared to other cities in the state. Having said that, housing remains more affordable in San Antonio than it does in most major markets around the country. For all intents and purposes, the San Antonio housing market is a hotbed for investor activity.

It was only a matter of time. Literally. As millennials grow older, get married, have children, they are seeking out bigger houses and better schools. That means the suburbs. They are also getting tired of paying higher urban rents and watching those rents rise.
